I was born and raised in Christchurch. I studied Law and Classics at the University of Canterbury. In 2000, I won the Mobil Song Quest (now Lexus Song Quest) before heading to London for post-graduate study in classical song and then opera at the Royal College of Music. I was then a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, before becoming a freelance professional opera singer based in London, but singing in a number of opera houses and concert venues in Europe and Australasia.

 

I still sing professionally, balancing singing with my day-to-day life as a lawyer.

 

Singing has been a very significant part of my life. In my earlier singing work, before travelling overseas, I was lucky to have excellent support from a range of organisations, particularly in Christchurch, including being given the opportunity to singing several roles and performances with Canterbury Opera and Christchurch City Choir, along with many concert opportunities and masterclass opportunities.

 

I carry the memories of all of the people who have supported me into my work as a Trustee of The Canterbury Opera Foundation.
