I am delighted to join a group of trustees working strategically and professionally to benefit opera in Canterbury. There has been a long legacy of opera in Christchurch, and it is important we all play our role.

 

The Foundation is critical to the opera ecosystem. It is a place people can continue their love of opera through participation, gifts, and bequests, to benefit artists, creatives and opera companies.

 

I believe connecting people and encouraging philanthropy can strengthen, and benefit our unique art form, and bring joy to individuals and diverse communities.

 

I am a trustee of the Kura Tāwhiti Canterbury Community Foundation, and was formerly Chair of New Zealand Opera. I continue to learn about the complexity of arts funding and opera provision through PhD study at the School of Music at the University of Canterbury Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha.
